Wine is mentioned in many ways, is treated in many ways and therefore is appreciated in many ways. Mankind consists of a multitude of different characters, and so does wine, but not to that extent.
One of our favorite movies to watch is French Kiss. In here many aspects of appreciation are demonstrated. The one that touched me most is box of "smells" that he had to help her recognize the different flavors in wine. It opens the heart and eyes to a new characteristic than just tasting the wine, although these both often go hand in hand.
